Monday, the White Owls, Toad — Riding the momentum of its new release, the Dennis Brennan-led blues band brings high energy and great musicianship to the Toad stage. It is a tiny room for such a dynamic act, so bring ear plugs! 10 p.m.
• Tuesday, Eddie Scheer All-Stars, Corrib Pub, Brighton — Each Mardi Gras, Eddie Scheer turns his weekly all-star showcase into a virtual second-line parade, 8 p.m.
Wednesday, Acoustic Women of Boston, Club Passim, Cambridge — Mairi Chaimbeul, Jenna Moynihan & Rose Polenzani, 8 p.m.
Thursday, Krewe de Groove, The Fallout Shelter, Norwood — The Mardi Gras theme continues with Krewe de Groove, the Brandon Tarricone-led New Orleans funk-infused ensemble, playing what is the best stage and most welcoming room in Greater Boston, 7 p.m.
Friday, Tab Benoit, Cabot Theater, Beverly — It seems half of New Orleans has come to Massachusetts for carnival week, and none better than its No. 1 blues ambassador, Benoit, 8 p.m.
Saturday, Wall of Grass, Club Passim — A matinee benefit for The Boston Animal Rescue League, this semi-regular showcase features some of the area’s stalwarts in what they describe as “an interactive folk collaborative,’’ and often features songs with a social conscience. The cast is usually large and diverse. This year, master guitarist Duke Levine is among those slated to again join the event created and run by former El Fuegos drummer Joe Donnelly, 1 p.m. ***
Sunday, Jimmy Ryan & Hayride, Atwood’s Tavern, Cambridge— The mando maestro brings an energy like no other to this Sunday matinee. His latest ensemble includes baritone sax master Dana Colley (Morphine), rocking guitarist Stu Kimball (Bob Dylan) and Jimmy’s longtime rhythm section of bassist Dave Westner and Mike Piehl, 4 p.m.
